Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Mgahinga national park
As you land at the airport, meet and be briefed by our company representative who will be in charge of you throughout the adventure. He will explain to you the different aspects of the trip and respect some of your questions, before hitting the road for a 7-9 hours’ scenic drive to Mgahinga national park, with an enroute stopover for lunch.
This drive exposes you to the rolling hills, scattered homesteads, and green vegetation parading in the countryside. You will arrive at your accommodation in the park late in the evening, proceeding for some relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking
After sipping the last dot of tea from your cup, you will go for document verification and briefing at the park headquarters, by the park rangers. They will explain the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking and then accompany you to these rewarding encounters, which is made more exciting with the surprise appearance of the different primates, birds and mammals at the park.
It takes about 1-6 hours to locate these Creatures, plus one hour for watching them. After the reunion, you will have a lunch break, before relaxing at the lodge, as dinner and a nap come last.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and Cultural encounter with the Batwa
Today’s adventure starts very early in the morning, after greeting your intestines with a tasty cup of coffee. You will head to the park headquarters for document verification, and briefing, after which an expert park ranger, accompanied by armed personnel while accompanying you into the jungle, for the tracking exercise that can last for about 1-6 hours, depending on how far these primates have moved.
Golden monkeys are very playful, swift, and charming, thus requiring complete attention as you take photos, or watch the creatures. After meeting them, you are given one hour to watch, ask questions, and take photos. Golden monkeys are very attractive and different from any type of monkey you might have ever seen.
Lunch comes after exiting the park, followed by an afternoon cultural experience with the Batwa Pygmies – former hunters and gatherers in the forest. They entertain you with stories, dances and ancient infrastructure, before retiring from the day’s tasks with dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Departure
Early in the morning, you will enjoy a tasty break first meal, after which you will check out of the lodge for a rewarding drive to Entebbe international airport, or your hotel around town. The driver-guide will stop at the equator for you to watch the demonstration at the point where the equator line crosses the earth, take photos, and enjoy lunch.
