In high vacation spirit, look no further than a 5-day lowland and mountain gorilla trekking adventure in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Though both being gorillas, these two Apes are different and unique. You will track the Mountain Gorillas at Virunga national park on the slopes of the famous Virunga mountains; the only asylum for the mountain gorillas in the world.
Tracking lowland gorillas will be at Kahuzi-Biega National park. Lowland gorillas have giant bodies and are very playful. We ensure our clients get the exact and more than what they desire while putting into consideration classic accommodation, transportation and several other amenities.

Day 1: Transfer to Virunga national park
On this day, our expert driver guide will happily welcome you at the airport for your visit to two of Congo’s top travel destinations. He will brief you first, responding to any of the questions, as well as offering all the necessary support for the time duration. If time allows thereafter, you will have a Kigali city tour, followed by a 6-8 hours’ drive to Virunga national park, with an enroute stopover for lunch, and document verification at the scenic Congo-Rwanda border post.
Your eyes will be fed with captivating views of rolling hills, leaves waving to you, and magnificent infrastructure. These and more will be brought to an end with a yummy dinner meal, and a comfortable nap.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking
Waking up early in the morning will be the order of the day as an energy-giving cup of coffee awakens your intestines to this day’s reality. On full hiking combat, with a camera well set, and a water bottle in the case, all roads will lead to the park headquarters for a pre-trekking briefing and document verification.
The park rangers take the briefing opportunity to group members to the different gorilla families and explain the trekking rules among others. Gorilla trekking can last for approximately 1-6 hours, and an additional hour for closely watching the apes as they play, feed or relax. Gorillas are human’s closest relatives, sharing over 95% DNA and similar behaviors. They leave in groups, led by a dominant silverback and feed on vegetables.
After the trekking experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and then the rest of the evening will be for resting or going for a plantation tour. End the day with dinner and a nap.
Day 3: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega national park in south Kivu region.
On this day, you will enjoy a tasty breakfast meal at your accommodation facility, before checking out for an amazing drive to Kahuzi-Biega national park, home to the low-land gorilla species. The drive offers captivating views of rolling hills, lush plantation and a remarkable concentration of eye-catching architecture.
With love for adventure, you will have an enroute stopover where the driver guide finds so exciting, before proceeding to the lodge in the park. Your presence will be rewarded with a mouthwatering dinner meal, and cozy bedding.
Day 4: Lowland Gorilla trekking in Kahuzi-Biega national park
At sunrise, our expert driver-guide will pick you up after breakfast for a drive to the park headquarters for registration and document verification. During briefing, the park rangers will explain the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking, after which they will offer accompaniment into the forest, where you will encounter unique tree species, mammals, birds and reptiles among others. Lowland gorillas are a very unique gorilla species with giant bodies and very exciting to watch.
Tracking these creatures can last for approximately 1-8 hours, plus a maximum of one hour for closely watching them and taking photos.
Thereafter, you will have a lunch break and any other optional activity that will bring the day to an end. Dinner and overnight come last.
Day 5: Departure through Kigali airport
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for a scenic drive to the airport in Kigali. However, Lunch will be en-route. Feel free to ask for any additional activity today, if time allows.
